Its been a month without an entry. That tells you what kind of month we've had. I did better in the share tipping competition - in at 609 or something out of 3800. Our friends shared photos from their son's wedding in Wisconsin.
The kids spent some time at ABC for Kids, and made lego people at Reasonably Clever's mini-mizer.

"Why do we have insurance company shares?" I ask myself today. Both IAG and TOWER are down in a big way, nearly died of shock when I logged into my portfolio on Investor at NineMSN. While I was there, I registered for next month's share tipping competition, bombed out last month (3400 out of 3900), but was great in August (181 out of 3500).

I feel very traitorous, not having used the e-tax system when really I should have. By the time I got my thoughts and bits of paper together and used the paper form as a template, it was all done!!
8 kilos down the track (was 9 but I slipped up on the weekend.)

On the weekend, my children had a great time on Nickelodeon, ABC for Kids and Cartoon Network websites, packed with games for the younguns'.
I've been looking for stuff on antioxidants, and found some great info at Femail, Disability Online (strange but true), and Food Science Bureau. Seems I have all of those bases covered.
I've now lost 7.7 kilos.

We have been soooo quiet on the www front at home, the PC is gathering dust.
I've lost 6 kilos now, without the PC beckoning me, lots of walking instead. The National Heart Foundation has a geat journal which had me reading every article on heart health, diabetes, fitness, nutrition, reducing salt in your diet etc. The Diet Club newsletter is also useful and informative.
The pedometer is great, I'm averaging 10,000 steps a day.
Had a look at TWIKI today, trying to keep abreast of all there is to offer in web management, more everyday...
New search engines like Kartoo are so different to how we use Google etc. I've tried it a few times now with great results. My fave is still Fast, I did a search to find out if Jennifer Garner's (TV show Alias) father was James Garner, and found out in under 2 minutes!! BTW, no, he's not.

Yesterday, looked at the Sportman's Warehouse website to look for a pedometer. Couldn't find one, so walked in digust 200m to the nearest store, found what I wanted. Used it the last 2 days on my walk with our pooch Benson. How easy is it to walk 8915 steps - FYI takes about an hour.
Found some inspirational words from the Diet and Fitness pages at iVillage. I've lost 4 kilos in the past 4 weeks by changing my eating habits and walking nearly everyday. Woohoo!! The jelly bean jar at work is my biggest battle, managed to have only 10 yesterday.
Used the BBQ for dinner tonight, nothin' better than BBQ'd steak (or at least half of one), coleslaw with lite mayo and corn on the cob.
My doc today warned me my blood pressure was getting high. I've always been normal. I found some useful info about hypertension and lifestyle changes on the web. A lot of things I'm doing already because of my effort to lose weight, but there were a few extras (like not eating deli meats) that I'd overlooked.

Jez has been buried. Our 4 year old daughter was very sad, but now understands that 'she won't be alive again'.
Following the blogging theme - there has been lively discussion on the ACT-KM Yahoo Group (for discussion on knowledge management in the public sector). Printed off these for my boss, as well as the sites from the latest internet.au and APC journals espousing blogging websites. He's very interested in the development.
Checked my horoscope today for any enlightenment at ninemsn, Kelli Fox's astrology and Jonathon Cainer's horoscopes. No help today.

Today is a sad day for us, our beloved cat Jezebel died at the paws and jaws of a neighbour's dog. Check her memorial site on Friday to see what a beautiful cat she was. We will bury her in our front garden tomorrow morning.
Well where did we go today on the web?
It a new credit card period, so I paid our bills due fo the next month on ANZ and St George.
Checked my account details and organised for some webspace through our new ISP Netspeed.
Mike did some research on the web on using volcanic rocks in gas BBQs, and I went and bought one without volcanic rocks at lunch time. We should have talked. Heaven knows where he went as I don't keep a history log in my browser past the current session.
Discovered Blogger and set-up this blog and registered it with Blogdex, Eaton, Fast Search, AltaVista and Google. Also linked this blog from my personal page (which should be up on Friday).

How does the web affect our family life? By noting where we go and what we do, I'll find out exactly what the web means to us. Well, who are we? Husband and myself in early thirties with 3 children aged 9 (boy), 6 (boy) and 4 (girl). The boys are at school, I work as a Web Manager for a government department, husband works night shift in a hotel. Time is precious, money is even more so. We've been on the web for 3 years at home now, so our journey has well and truly started.
